Any good junkyards in NC?
Going to visit my in-laws in N.C. this Christmas and wanted to know if there were any good yards along the way to Winston-Salem area where I could possibly get some decent body panels for my 67. Right now it has a 69-72 front end and the fleetside panels are toast.
I will be traveling up 95 to 26 in S.C. then over to Charlotte area and up to almost the VA line. I will have a trailer with me so room shouldnt be a problem. Thanks Mike

Pretty much picked out around here, plus sheet metal is usually rusted out.

Re: Any good junkyards in NC?
try a search on the locator at http://www.car-part.com on a popular item ('88-'98 C/K hood) and you'll quickly get a list of all the yards in the area. Call and few and ask them who keeps older model stuff.

I have a passenger bedside in Asheville. It is in great shape, the only negative is holes in the top rail where PO had rails.

Re: Any good junkyards in NC?
all I can say is that Hertz got back a well-thrashed rental. That road's got about 700 tight 180 degree switchbacks that all but tore the front tires off....LOL

Re: Any good junkyards in NC?
I am a hydrologist for my local county govt. now. ....I applied on a couple of positions with the state that a qualify for.
I powdercoat on the side and want to open up my small shop too once I get settled. We currently rent a home month to month for now. Taxes are high, insurance is high, people all over the place, its just nuts here anymore. And a ton of associations that tellyou what you can and can't do.

Re: Any good junkyards in NC?
Look up Eddie Hamby in the East Bend/ Winston Salem Area, or give me a call 336.595.3900 Steve @ Classic Automotive Restoration Specialists Inc. I've got a good amount of personal sheetmetal stashed.
Steve

Re: Any good junkyards in NC?
Try Hamby Motors in Pfafftown, just outside Winston-Salem. he's a chevy guru of sorts. Don't know what he's got left he crushed a bunch. Still a good source. might even have some NOS stuff. His # is 336-945-3712. I think my '67 is still there. straight and rust free.

Re: Any good junkyards in NC?
Ryan,
I was talking about the website Jon sent as well. I still have to scheck out the site you sent me and write all of this down to get a gameplan together. With all of these great responses, I might be able to get what I need. Steve, I will try and call you when I am up there. Thanks again!! Mike P.S. I will be there either on the 20th or 21st through the 29th-30th of this month.
