Dana rear-end question
I've got a 67 chevy step with a dana rear end under leaf springs. My desire is to put a leaf drop on it but I want to go to a 5 lug setup to match the front. Can a wise board member give me some options. I am planning a late model crossmember switch on the front. Should I go with a newer rear axle too? Thanks in advance!

Re: Dana rear-end question
I'm guessing since you only want 5 lugs it's a half ton. Take a close look at the web near the diff. You should have a Dana 44 under there.

Yeah...it's a 1/2 ton. Has anyone ever worked on the axles? I would appreciate any help!

Re: Dana rear-end question
Any decent shop that works on Jeeps or 4x4's should have that answer. There are a ton of aftermarket products for the D44, but mostly for the front axle model. I have one of these D44 rears sitting in my back yard that may find it's way under my 55 gasser.... six lug and all.
