Exclamation Engine fire...

Ill post pics monday...but one of my techs just called me and told me when he was installing my new carb...it back fired and flamed up...blistered the hood...about the size of a music c/d he said. I have not seen it yet..I will wait untill mon when I return to woork to see it and take pictures. Oh well...could have been worse. Could have been the whole truck

Did you say "CAR-be-que"? Did you have one of those Edelbrock foam "igniter" air cleaners or was it just off at the time?

The air cleaner was off. I just installed a new holley..and dual feed fuel line started to leak. (small leak) My tech had shop rags to collect the fuel and truck was at idle to move it...then the truck backfired when the gas was hit. Flamed up, then the tech put it out. I was to drive this truck so bad this summer...but dont know how long the paint will take. I have now decided to paint the whole truck. I will post pics as the process goes on.

Your gonna paint it!?!? Damn! Im bummed about the fire! Your truck is my favorite on the board, I wish your truck a speedy recovery! And just to throw my .02 in there, I wouldnt change a thing, but thats me. Good Luck!

it sounds like you need to have a talk with your tech. he should know to immediately crank it over when it has a carb fire. he should also know to not run an engine with a fuel leak.

and you should know to not use a holley. LOL
