Power steering pump bracket

I'm pulling the 350 out of my c10 to replace it, and I noticed that my power steering pump's bracket attaches to the bloody motor mount.
Is there a different bracket that I can use that doesn't attach there, but still puts the power steering pump in that location?

Re: Power steering pump bracket

I'm looking for the type that only connects to the front of the block and doesn't wrap around, but still leaves my alternator where it is.

Re: Power steering pump bracket

The vans used a bracket that attatched to the front exhaust manifold bolt. The front cast bracket is the same as our trucks.

Re: Power steering pump bracket

I have long tube headers... so that's no good either.
I'm looking for one that doesn't attach in the back at all... does that not exist?

Re: Power steering pump bracket

I'll watch this for idea because I'll be there soon but...

In my wayward youth I had a 72 Camaro with a 350 and headers that had a bracket very similar to the one in the pic. I located a long shank bolt of the same size as the header bolts and used a socket and some washers as spacers so I could retain the factory P/S and alternator brackets.

I don't know how much money you want to spend; but you might check out www.alangrovecomponents.com website and see if they have one to fit your application. Just a thought.

Re: Power steering pump bracket

the one that i have my dad actually just took a piece of 1/4 inch thick medal measured it and we put a spacer on the back of it. also drilled the inside out so it would have room to adjust a little

Re: Power steering pump bracket

Doesn't having the power steering pump bolted to the exhaust manifold get in the way of the alternator?

Re: Power steering pump bracket

You can slot the one you have and that makes it a little easier to get back in place. I'm assuming here and I know what that usually means.

Re: Power steering pump bracket

Todd is this what you have? Do you have a long or short water pump. The brackets are different.

Re: Power steering pump bracket

Yes, that is the one I have. And I have the short one I think. There is no space between the water pump and the timing cover.

Re: Power steering pump bracket

How about this style, it cradles the pump with one pivot bolt in the front, then mounts up with a bracket to the cylinder head and the first bolt on the exhaust manifold.
I can take more pics. if this is of any help...J

Re: Power steering pump bracket

I used the March bracket; they have other low-mount items that work with a drivers-side mounted alternator. http://www.marchperf.com/
