super cheyenne questions
okay guys help me out here. i have always loved the 71-72 models. i recently purchased
a 71 short fleet side that was going to be restored by the previous owner. He got as far as removing all the trim and lost a lot of it, and spraying on some primer before parking it in the weeds for 4 years. i am sure it was a cheyenne (all the chrome buckets, tilt, air etc.) but.... how can you tell if it was a cheyenne super. and whats the difference in the two? any help is appreciated. thanks, Tony ------------------ SIMPLY BEAUTIMUS !!!!

I'm no expert but I think the super had the wood grain glove box and door panel trim as "extra".

Great find either way. There is not much difference between the Cheyenne and Cheyenne Super. In addition to the Cheyenne options the Super added exra padding on the seats, carpet on the lower door and kick panels, and the wood on the dash bezel and glove box. But the Super only came in a limited number of interior colors; I think it was blue, olive and off-white hounds tooth. If it is a Cheyenne and you want it to be a Super just add the extra stuff along with the cool side emblems and you got it.
Have fun, Ron King www.kingparts.com

yes it does have the woodgrain moulding
the bucket seats have a third seat in the middle not a console. the original owner had the seats recovered in a white diamond tucked naugahyde. and unfortunately the glove box sticker is gone. only a shadow of the glue is left underneath the red primer. thanks for the help guys. i appreciate it. tony

my truck is an original cheyenne super --original equiptment includes the houndstooth bench matr'l, wood grain on gauge cluster and g/box, woodgrain applique on doorpanels(different window regulator used for this also), tilt column, and woodgrain on lower exterior moulding. Basicall a cosmetic upgrade.

My Cheyenne(not a Super) has the woodgrain lower body trim, the woodgrain door trim inside also. You'd be looking for the Houndstooth seat, the woodgrain trim on the cluster and glovebox and the emblems. From all the Supers I've seen that's the only difference. I don't know about the extra padding in the seat..that one's hard to see.

Should be a console between the buckets - not a 3rd seat.

Door carpet was never original...only LMC and other aftermarket places.

My 72 Super Cheyenne was bought new by my Grandfather and I now have it. Just LOVE this truck! Piccy's in the sig.
Won't be too much longer and I'll start with the full body off the frame resto. Still deciding on if I want to keep it all original or go custom. I'd love to repaint is saphire blue metallic instead of the ol black and white. ------------------ Zurbo's Chevy - 1972 Black/White Cheyenne Super. 400 Big Block /THD 400, factory air and tilt. I am an original owner of a 72 Cheyenne "Super". I second CKHD discription, with the only exception he didn't list the tailgate alumn, woodgrain panel.
Cheyenne's are hard to come by, Cheyenne "Super's" very rare. Zurbo, if you have the glove box sticker, listing the Cheyene Super option, please keep it ORIGINAL !!! Last offer $16,500.00 Silver was the original paint, as ordered. ------------------ 72 Cheyenne Super, Fleetside, Shortbed, Original Owner, Special Ordered 350ci/340hp, Auto Trans, 3:70 Posi, Tow Package Northern Calif
