My 16 year old son asked me to post this question so here goes. (He seems to regard my 4x4 as "his" truck, he just lets me work on it and pay for it. LOL) Was the Longhorn option just a GMC thing or did Chevrolet also have it as an option? The only ones I have seen are GMC. Also, did the Longhorn option change the wheel base from the standard 8 foot fleetside length? Thanks

No, Yes, and yes. The longhorn frame is the 133" C-30 frame. That is where they got the extra 6" for the additional box length. I happen to have a 69 Chevrolet C20 Longhorn.

I thought MOST longhorns were Chevy. See above, he nailed it. They are I guess a fairly rare version of our favorite trucks

I got a '71 Chevy Custom Camper 20 Longhorn. I read a lot of great info on them from longhornmail's web page on longhorns.

In reality, he GMC version never got the Longhorn badges from the factory. At least, that is what I have seen. Being that GMC info is kinda hard to get, I am not 100% sure. Becouse of this, some people say the GMC is not a real Longhorn.
The GMC was made in much fewer numbers on every body style...I can't remember the formula, but it was something like one third of the trucks were GMC. (ball park numbers of course)
