Disc brakes came stock on the front of all 71s,they weren't optioned with them and have came stock with front discs since.Yes the front axle is a little different but only because of the disc brakes being added.Only the outer stuff like the knuckles,etc are different.The grill has a different paint scheme,mirror is on the windshield frame instead of windshield like 72s,and the back of the frame doesn't come down like the 72s and doesn't have the notch in the tub for where the frame comes down..Door panels and doors are different.Double wall top was only available and won't have the holes in the tub for both styles..
