Re: truck weight
I think the general opinion is around 4000 - 4200 lbs --- obviously more equipment means more weight

Re: truck weight
nahhh --- they are much lighter than a modern truck--- just look at the difference in the frame rails. There is nothing to the interiors either, and they are single cab
I've taken my longbed (small block, steel floor, steel wheels, no options) over the scales enough at the dump to ballpark it at around 4000 lbs.

Re: truck weight
Ive got al old book somewhere that lists all the truck weights from 60-72 i cant find it right now. I know it says my panel weighs 3800lbs and if i remember correctly a half ton longbed weighed 3600lbs
the weights were probably based off a base model mabie with a 6cyl It dident say. |

Re: truck weight
My 69 with a Corp 14-bolt in rear, and a D60 up front.....AND a BBC weighed in at 5200 lbs.......I'm a puller, and I had to add MANY weights to hit the 6200 pound class limit. I would guess a stock half ton to weigh in at less than 4800 lbs......

Re: truck weight
I talked to a guy here in okc with a shortbed and a big block and his weighs 4800lbs. I'm thinking that mine weighs around 4600 or so. Going by my time slips and my dyno sheets, i think i'm in the ball park.

Re: truck weight
Had a 68 longbed fleetside with a 250 I6 and a 4 speed that weighed in at 4200 lbs with a quarter tank of gas. That was on a grain elevator's scale. I would hope that's accurate since they get paid by that.

Re: truck weight
Our truck scales at work just were calibrated, my SWB fleet with a V8 weighed in at 3650 with no driver.
Mine is a stripper model, no AC and an auto.

Re: truck weight
Amazing how different the weights are. At the dump, my 70 GMC lwb weighed in at 4544 empty with me in it at 180 lbs.

Re: truck weight
I find the disparity in weight amazing too. Granted, 4X4s are heavier than 2X4s, and LWBs a little more than SWBs, but there seems to be at least a 20% variation with similar type trucks. Can the weighing places (DMV, Grain Elevator, Racetrack, Town Dump, truck stop, etc) be off by that much?
It'd be interesting to take the same truck to a half dozen places and see how much of this 20% difference is due to the scale rather than the truck. Since Mine's not running, I guess I just gave one of you something to do this winter.

Re: truck weight
Yeah, mine weighs ~4200#. I guess most of those scales don't really matter if they are dead on, 'cause they are weighing the difference of loaded vs unloaded... But it'd be nice if they were all the same...
