Do the trucks make the color...OR...Does the color make the truck?

Ok...after going through various TOTM pictures...the thought came to me. I like the looks of these trucks no matter what color they are dressed in. So does the truck make the color look sweet or it is the fact that our trucks look good in any color. What say ye?

this needs to be a poll

I vote the truck makes most any color work.

Re: Do the trucks make the color...OR...Does the color make the truck?

Most any color will work as long as the workmanship is great i think. I have rarely seen a bad color on these trucks -(except purple - i think purple is played out) . Yes, these truccks make most colors look great

That said, and for comparison purposes, i would not have bought my '75 if it weren't for the fact that it was orange and white 2-tone. I think the color makes it for those body styles because they are not real high up on my desirability meter in comparison to the 67-72's, so in that case, color did matter.

truck before color. I've wanted a 67-72 for years but what I found was was medium olive.

AND I use to hate medium olive now shazam, I love it.....

...or, is it the owner's personality that makes the truck and the color work? I have seen people who had a vehicle that didn't work for him/her, but for another person the same vehicle was a perfect fit.

Geeze, kinda like dogs, too. Dude with a toy poodle just may not be appropriate, when he looks like he oughta have a pit bull.

Re: Do the trucks make the color...OR...Does the color make the truck?

As an artist I will go with color makes the truck. Pink would be devastating. On the other hand I have see a 69 Camaro in Chrysler "Panther Pink" and really liked the look this chick had while she was driving it. So rather the car/truck does make the difference. I do know that camoflauge looks stupid. Who you hidding from? A deer in the grill? Even deer know what a Chevy looks like.

Its more of the whole package to me. Ive seen some olive or ochre trucks that just dont work for me and then there are others done in those colors that I just love.

Re: Do the trucks make the color...OR...Does the color make the truck?

the truck makes the color work in many cases... however, IMO, even in the 67 - 72 style, certian colors STILL don't look good on them.
I'll argue the pink though;

Re: Do the trucks make the color...OR...Does the color make the truck?

I don't mess with big burly dudes on pink harleys either. I guess I like how the Chevrolets as well as other trucks just look tough anyhow. I just feel that it deserves to be painted that way. Paint it bright yellow and it looks like a Highway Department truck. Color does influence. Having studied how the eyes work in reference to color. People say red cars get stopped more by police. It might be true as the color receptors in your retina are the most influenced due to red being one end of the spectrum of colors our eyes can see. What I mean after you look at something red, other colors won't look the same until your receptors have readjusted just like your pupils dialate in the dark and close to a small hole in the bright lite. Walk into the shop on a bright sunny day and you can't see a thing until they have adjusted. Color it is for me. David

Re: Do the trucks make the color...OR...Does the color make the truck?

I think that the body style/design of our trucks is great. The trucks make the color work in my opinion. Think of an Ochre 71' . Then think of an Ochre Toyota Camry . Kinda like the saying; "beautiful women can make paper bags look good."

Re: Do the trucks make the color...OR...Does the color make the truck?

I think everything needs to come together as a package and be planned as a package.

Wheels, colour, style, everything together. When I choose my truck colour I had many sceptics, especially my painter, but it seems to have worked out.

I think workmanship plays into it as well.

You could take two 72 Chev SWB, both in the same blue and white, but one looks good and one looks great. How come, one has the package figured out a little better.......

Definitely truck before color.... although there are some bad color choices that can ruin the truck.

of course it's the trucks that make the color or we would not all be sitting her right now.how many other vehicles can look so good with the paint oxidized so bad it's called patina and looked at by many as a plus?

I can't remember... i know it was in Canada.. all the pink ones started life up there, never sold here. He was a member on Wes's board as of a few years ago. His name was Denis P. (not sayin his last name here) He has had it since 98 or 99, when I first came in contact with him. He was askin about the pink paint. It is listed on his SPID, he was asking about how rare it was.
I think he sold it a few years ago though... but, if the name matches the current seller, then i am mistaken, or it simply didn't sell. I remember he was askin quite a bit though.
