Top looks good and so does the rest of the truck. Are you going to leave it on all winter? I'm probably going to pull my soft top next weekend.

Re: Besttop soft top
Looks real good. I've said it before and I will say it again, Bestop needs to get new pics on its website - the top looks funky on their website but I've seen it on a couple K5's on this site and it looks real good.
Are you happy with the fit?

Re: Besttop soft top
Based on experience, installing the Besttop is not rocket science, but it's tedious and painstaking. However, with a little patience (not to mention an adult beverage or three!), you can get 'er done in an afternoon and be perfactly satisfied for years to come. I used one on my daily driver K5 for three years 24/7 during every type of weather imaginable and on numerous trips including a 14,000-mile loop around the USA and an excursion to Mexico City. The canvas material does shrink a little, so when the weather starts to cool and you have to raise the top, time it so you're snapping it up during the warmer part of the day. Use a high quality canvas or leather conditioner/softener and use it often. Do not let the material dry out. I can not attest to the long-term durability of the material, but mine stayed in great shape for as long as I had it. While Besttop has announced they will cease production of the '69-'72 model at the end of this year, it also appears like they have quite a few in their inventory. I don't think the tops will dissapear at midnight on December 31, but, as I said, I'll be ordering mine ASAP just to make sure I get a spot in the cue.

Re: Besttop soft top
Drilling the holes in the body of mine was one of the hardest things to do. If you figure out a way to do it without drilling, you could probably sell it to a lot of guys who also don't want to drill.

Re: Besttop soft top
why not just build an aluminum frame out of angle that clamps on top lip like the hard top does. then drill holes in aluminum or steel i think it would be fairly simple.

Re: Besttop soft top
Sound like something to think about. And bolt it to the same holes where the tail gate strip goes. thanks 57sailplane

Re: Besttop soft top
The tailgate and the windshield frame where the places that required drilling. The side rails on the STC top attach mostly at the factory top mounting points.
