350 builds??? Tell Me What You Got!

I am about to build a mild 350 for my 70 stepside. I would like to know what heads and camshafts you guys are running on the street... I have a 4 bolt main and I will be running .040 flatops.... I am thinking some Vortec heads... Billla is already pointing me in the right direction, I just have to get there!

Re: 350 builds??? Tell Me What You Got!

350 + .060, flat tops w/ 4 relief valves, vortec heads, compcams 262xe kit, edelbrock performer rpm, 650cfm holley vaccuum secondary. I modeled this after reading "the goodwrench Quest" where they took a gm crate motor and tried to see how much power they could make. According to the article, this combo should put me in the 350hp+ range. the article is online, so if you googled "goodwrench quest" it should come up.

I've been loving my 270H cam!

I'm very happy with what I've come up with. It's very mild mannered on the street, yet has plenty of grunt.

Which LT1? The old one or the new one? The new one can only be used with a roller block, or you can have the specs ground into a hydraulic flat tappet.

Re: 350 builds??? Tell Me What You Got!

I was running a 350 4 bolt, .060 over flat tops 4 vr, with 1970-71 400 heads, fully ported, 1.94/1.60 valves, 76cc chambers, 292H cam(292/292*, .501/.501"), solid lifters, Magnum roller tipped rockers, upgraded 1.47" springs. I have pics and those heads are for sale with just under 8K miles on them. The only thing I don't suggest is that cam...it's too big for idle and vacuum quality.

Re: 350 builds??? Tell Me What You Got!

I love big cams put a little timing in them and run a big converter mines a 5300. a blast on the street and 200 shot from nx dosnt hurt either
