Slprc10
My project is a 1970 C10 2wd shortbed. I first found this truck 8 years ago when a former boss had it. He purchased the truck in 1980 from the original owner , and drove it daily until now. 8 Years of nagging and he finally gave in. Truck was an original small block 350, turbo 350 trans, column shift. The only changes made to the truck were paint (original color was green), front disc brakes, 5 lug axels and power steering and at some point a motor swap.
I knew I wanted to achieve a custom ride, but keep the original style. From the outside it will have the original style, with a modern suspension system and drivetrain. I intend to DRIVE this baby when I'm done. Maybe not in severe weather, but it will be driven a lot. When finished I hope to have achieved a custom classic look. I want it to look like an old truck that I lowered with a few other mods. I dont want people to relaize the chassis and drivetrain has been redone. I dont want to worry about parking it at the grocery store and having a retard hit it with their car door. Last edited by PipsC10; 03-30-2010 at 10:24 AM. Reason: change of plans |

Re: Iced Green dream
I dug up a few more photos I took a few weeks back. As you can see the frame came out nice. I am using all new grade 8 bolts on the frame. I also put in the new Trans crossmember from Early Classics. The photo of the cab shows the original color of the truck. I'm off to Tahoe for a week, hopefully when I get back my front ART system will have arrived.

Re: Iced Green dream
That's too funny, I plan on having my '67 painted that very same dupont "iced green dream" color ( when I get to that point,) hopefully in the not-too distant future, I have the paint chip/sample color on my fridge for inspiration, I've seen a 67-72 truck in that(or close to) that color, it looks awesome. Keep us posted. Lew

Re: Iced Green dream
got a little work done. I installed my ART front strong arm system. I need to take my spindles back off and re-paint them. I also need to pack my wheel bearings and finish the front steering components. The front ART system was easy to install and the fit was excellent. After seeing all of the other builds I wish I would have gone with a dropmember, oh well.
I was able to snag a freshly re-built 12 bolt main rear-end out of a 72 that was converted to posi with 373 gears. I need to get rid of mine now, 12 bolt non-posi with 5 lug axles. Next up will be the rear ART system. Hope to have it in a month or two. See-ya |

Re: Iced Green dream
Today I was able to install my brake lines. I still need a few more clips to finish the deal. I knew when I took photos of the bare frame with the old crappy lines they would come in handy. I had to look back at the photos to figure out where most of the clips went. The brake lines I used were all pre-bent stainless steel from classic industries. I had to do a little tweaking here and there to get them in perfect, but they worked out good. I also started to build a gauge consule out of an old glovebox door. I cut out the inside piece of metal and ground it as smooth as possible. I am going to cut out a piece of 12 gauge sheet metal and cover the front to make it stronger. A few pictures to start, and hopefully I will have more progress this week.

It's my Dad's truck, he just finished it last summer after a 4 year build. 1949 pro street, 4 link, bagged, on the bottle.

Re: Iced Green dream
here is a few more. My dad definitely has the old school style and a completely different taste than I do, but he builds some bad a$$ stuff. Check out the air induction that is completely functional with the hood scoop. Dad built it himslef, he's got a crazy mind for cool stuff.

Re: Iced Green dream
No hardware, I bought the hardware from inline tube. If your going to order make sure you get the right set-up. I need to get one more clip for mine, but I think the brake line clip set was somewhere around 30 dollars for all the lines.
