should I do it / is it worth it?
Hello,
I have found someone who is selling for $300 and will not separate 7 - 14 bolt full floater rear axles (a few are complete - others missing parts) 2 - Dana 44 3/4 ton fronts (one complete , one missing an axle) 1 - Gov lock rear end 1 - pair of 3/4 ton Dodge axles (F & R) 2 - turbo 350/np205 1 - sm465/np208 The problems are.... I would need to rent a U haul box. He is around 100 miles away. I figure I would have a $80 rental bill. I would need to store stuff until I sell it. My wife will kill me. Sore back after moving 12 axles and 3 tranny/transfercases I think this is a good deal. I could spend this much and drive just as far for a pair of axles. What do you think these are worth. I see prices on craigslist of 100-150 per 14 bolt or Dana 44 front. Trannys/transfer cases go for 200-400. I also wonder if those prices actually move items out of the sellers garage or it they are wishful thinking. Sorry so long, Do you all think I should do this? Would you do it?

Eric you are welcome to use my trailer if you need to. You can also stick your extra stuff out in the barn if you want. Call me if you wanna talk about it.

Re: should I do it / is it worth it?
So far it sounds like I should do it.
Cg - Mark, thank you for the offer but I'm afraid that my current transmission/transfercase with all the slop in it would not hold up. The tow bill for my truck stuck on the side of the road would be worth beating on a U-haul. I might be able to borrow my fathers Suburban possibly.I trust it as a tow rig. Your barn is an interesting offer but if I get them I think that it would be better to have them in MY way so I am more likely to get rid of them faster. (free up money and space) I do not know what year the 44's are. My truck has a closed knuckle so I am looking for a open knuckle/disk. I will contact him again. Do my price guesses on what they are worth sound about right? High? Low?

Re: should I do it / is it worth it?
350/205 combo in nice condition should be worth in the 500-700 range. A local guy paid 500 for just an automatic 205. I would say it's worth it.

Re: should I do it / is it worth it?
Well, for what it's worth I just paid 150 for a np 205. Not sure on the rest of it. You might be able to put an ad in Craigslist now, and if someone bites, then you would have the motivation to go get the parts!
I did that a long time ago with an ad in the paper when I wanted to buy a Camaro for parts and had to be sure I could sell what I didn't need. |
