rear tranny seal leak
I got the 4spd swapped over for a fresh TH400 and as my luck goes the junk yard 2pc driveline out of a '68 w/TH400 has a severe vibration. (I've sent my original 2pc in to be shortened/balanced
Now the new tranny is leaking from the seal at the tail housing after less than a mile. Is the vibration causing the leak? The slip in yoke was cleaned, did I pinch the seal somehow? Could the tranny be overfilled?(Its not coming out the vent). thanks....swdobbs |

swdobbs, i have the same problem as you. don't let it go for very long, as mine leaks way too much and is making a greasy mess all over underneath. anyway, i talked to local tranny guys and they said that my trans yoke is "bad" and no matter how many times i replace the seal, it will continue to leak until i replace the yoke. i have yet to replace my yoke so i can't tell you if thats the fix. has anybody heard this also?

driveshaft balance cost
At a local shop here in MT, it cost $100 for about 20 minutes work to shorten one with no materials (and that's discounted thru a local hot rod builder account)
Geez it seems high rent, but its the only place in town swdobbs.......... |
