Insurance Question
I need to find good quality insurance for my truck. I plan to drive only a few thousand miles per year but need "stated-value" or replacement-value insurance. Is there a company that has worked well for this?
Thanks |

Re: Insurance Question
I am in the process of insurance for mine. I have a '73 and told the guy it was worth about 7k and he quoted me 40.00 a month for full coverage. He said that I would also have to put another vehicle on it also because they would not do just a classic car only. I will have to get an appraisal before it can be done. I was also told that I did not have to keep it locked in a garage at night like most classic insurance companies do. It was with State Farm. Let me know and I can send you his email address.

Re: Insurance Question
http://www.americancollectors.com/ This is who I use and they don't require an aprasial. I pay $117 per year for an agreed value of $15000. The only draw back is you can't drive a covered vehicle to work and limit you to 3000 miles a year but you can pay for more.. Chris

Re: Insurance Question
I second Grundy. Just completed a package program with them for insurance on two vehicles we are restoring, a completed GTO, 3 trailers, coverage on our 2 shops, and garage keepers liability. Their rates are excellent and they have some excellent programs.

Re: Insurance Question
Just A Note Of Caution. All The Classic Ins. Companies I Have Tried Have Shot A Low Price To Start. Then Even Though I Told Them My Truck Was Lifted And Not Stock They Say No Prob. Then About 1 Or 2 Months Later They Either Want To Cancel Me Or Double The Rate. So If Your Not Bone Stock Beware....

Re: Insurance Question
Mine is insured as a classic through State Farm for $75.00 every 6 months for full coverage (drive less than 7500 miles per year) and I have increased coverage 100k/300k for property liability. I will call and ask what the payout is for totaled/stolen.
They have done me right on a camaro that was totaled and when my tools walked out of my garage.

Re: Insurance Question
State Farm. Stated Value of 8K. I'm supposed to be limited to 5K miles per year (I had it insured as a pleasure vehicle) but I have no other restrictions. I can drive it whenever wherever and it has full comp and collision.
With a combined rate with my other truck, the '67 is just over $400 per year. Without the multicar it would have been $470 per year. I'm 27 and in the top 98% of their preferred drivers, so that helps too.

Re: Insurance Question
I have a stated value policy on mine.
I am with Hanover. I am not sure about an individual rate, but together with my wife's '02 Cavalier with full coverage, and my truck having $20,000 full coverage, we pay $550 every 6 months. My truck is my daily driver, so I want to be able to replace it if I have to. I have every penny of that in it. DLB |

Re: Insurance Question
I figured that: I'm single (engaged), live in apt, and have nothing else insured with State Farm. Still, I'm very happy with the price, even the classic places wanted $200 or so per year, but I'd never be able to drive it (I didn't meet their garage requirements anyway...)
