Fuel level bounce
I pretty sure most of our trucks do this but the fuel gauge bounces when you make turns and so on. is there a way to keep this from happing or is there a aftermarket sending unit for our tanks???

you could install baffels inside the tank to make less dramatic side to side fluid transfer inside the tank that would make the gauge somewhat more stabil

It's kinda funny to watch. Mine will vary by a whole 1/4 tank sometimes!

Maybe the float has lost buoyancy causing the fluctuation to be more dramatic???

It is kinda funny to watch. Mine doesnt vary that much, usually just 1/8 of a tank. The joy of owning an old truck.

What's the possibility that your sending unit has "worn" during its lifetime and the action of the float arm and the resistance "signal" that it sends to the guage isn't "spot on" accurate? It may well be that what you want to see just isn't possible with the aged components that you have. The newest of these trucks is 36 years old. How long do you expect to have an accurate reading?

Well the sending unit is less that 2 years old. Trust me I understand it will never be perfect but with all the differant accesories and upgrades etc.. Someone just might have a solution, or not.

This is a little off topic and kinda abstract, and no I haven't been smokin' that. I remember being annoyed by the fluctuating gas gauge and slosh of fuel in the tank, but now it'd be nice to see/hear since I haven't driven my GMC since June 2000.

When I floor the suburban, it'll drop by 1/4 tank.
The longhorn only does it when cornering. Is it THAT annoying? The clanking of the flaot in the tank is more annoying than anything. |

No it works so its not that annoying I was just wonder if they made aftermarket style senders to help reduce the amount of bounce, or are there any modifications. Trust me its not the end of the world just trying to educate myself alittle on this subject.
