Ok, 1st Question...
I have a '70' C20, 3/16" frame, w/1ton suspention all around and leaf-assist-rear.
4spd top-loader-dayna trans,(actually, 3w/g). Full-float, 8-lug dayna rear-end,(as I'm told), w/410 gears. What is the highest gear set,(preferably Zoomy's or a better maker if there is one), that will fit the stock carrier in this rear-end? *(I'm running 33" A/T tires and the 350 engine is pushing about 475hp so the rear-gear set has got to be as strong as possible! She can do wheel stands and get a third gear scratch w/ the 410's now. But I need better mileage! It's that, or I have no choice but to run pure alcohol in 'er.) "HELP!" ...Please. Re: Ok, 1st Question...
that would be 3/4 ton stuff... one tons never came with coils in back.
If you have the eaton/corp rear, you're about as high as you'll get on the gearing. Time for a rear end swap. |

That's true about the 3/4t, except the C30,(also 3/16" frame), did run some with coil susp,(I also added the 1ton coils afterwards, originally it was 3/4ton susp = "C-20"). There simply must be some higher ratio'd gear that'll fit into this 3/4 ton dif/carrier without the major butt-switch... *Sigh* Michael |
