Heater door cable

Is there a way to get to the heater door to check the cable without taking the heater box off the firewall?

If it's a non AC truck just look at the box under the dash.You will see the rubber grommet the cable goes thru.Just pop the grommet and you can see the end of the cable.You may need a flashlight.
