Droppin the 71 LWB

I'm new to the site and would like some input on lowering my 71 long bed C10. I am planning on starting with a set of drop spindles, probably 2 1/2 drops. I'm going to run 15x8 chevy rallys all the way around. I haven't made a tire size choice yet. I would like to go as low as possible without C notching the frame. The truck has a small block in it if that makes a difference. One other thing, I read that I could change to 73-87 spindles fairly easy. What are the advantages to this and how easy is it to do and what parts will I need to do it. If you have any pictures to go along with the reply I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Re: Droppin the 71 LWB

Some of the best information can be picked up from Early Classic Enterprises. They offer great parts, great prices, and excellent service and support. On their site they offer different ride height pics for you to look at. I'm planning on installing a 4.5/6 kit from ECE on my '72 truck.

If I recall correctly you only have to swap the ball joints and the 73-87 spindles will fit, I will let some of the other members chime in on this though.

Re: Droppin the 71 LWB

TRE's are different and upper BJ's are supposed to be different. On my 71 , I'm running the 73-87 spindles and both of my BJ were actually okay and fit perfectly. Outer TRE's is all I had to change.
