tail light mods

I’m working on the rear of my project now and I noticed at a show I went to last week all the taillight lens stick out pass the body. I think it’s done that way so its flush when you use the trim around it. I decided to not use the trim and ended up recessing the lamps. Any of you guys done it like this or have you left it the stock depth.
On the left is where it was stock and on the right its recessed.

Have you guys done any different mods, like shave the back up lights? I've seen the caddy mod, any other mods out there?

Re: tail light mods

The suburban's really do, but the truck lense will fit inside the suburban housing, so I'm gonna either machine the lip off and have a flush lense, or make some out of some prismatic acrylic. Of course, the suburban has no trim, so I think it will look pretty good.

Re: tail light mods

I've seen corvette taillights in a roll panel. I prefer a more stock look.

Could you just shave down the extended lip so it is smoother?

This is the best looking tailgate I have seen yet. I will retain the lettering on mine, with the reversed handle and use the taillights/trim from MuscleRodz.

Re: tail light mods

Im with ChevRoLay and thing that back end looks great. Is that set of taillights a manufactured design or owner built??

I have on my truck stock tails with the inside edges filed down so that they sit flush with the body but am looking for a set to totally replace the separate tail and back up lights with a one piece unit.
