Has anyone been unhappy with their polyurethane control arm bushings? I just bought a set of control arms and I need to replace the bushings. just trying to get figure out if I want to stick with the stock style or not. It will be bagged if that make a difference or not.

I have used both and never noticed a major difference. I figure if the originals held up for 35 years,why not stick with them.

I have used stock, polyurethane, & polygraphite. The polyurethane seemed to make alot of noise. It handled well, better than stock. There where other suspension upgrades along with the bushings which where a factor. The polygraphite are alot like the polyurethane but not so noisey. Thats just my opinion. Right now I'm using the polygraphite in my burb and they work well.

I hope they aren't as loud as you all are leading on too. I just replaced all of my control arm bushings with all new poly (not sure if they are polygraphite) because i needed new ones and the advantages in handling. That is going to suck if that is true

I just double checked and mine are graphite impregnated so does that mean that they are polygraphite bushings and I should be fine with the whole squeak thing? Sorry didn't mean to hijack you thread

Where did you get them?

Yes, graphite impregnated is GTG. Check with Energy Suspension or ProThane. Those are the two top names in the business.

If you do use polyurethane make damn sure that you grease the crap out of them inside and out. Otherwise, they will squeak like Gringo said. I have polyurethane in the rear of my 66 Chevelle and have no problems though. But, I have heard of some poly's squeaking.

Yep. Use their silicone grease too. Normal petrol grease will only last a couple of days and then start back grating on your last nerve again. The stuff specifically made for poly bushings lasts forever and is hard as hell to wash off, even with soap...

Do I need a press to get these in? What type of places do this and is it expensive?

I have different ones than what you would use because i am using a c5 corvette suspension so i used poly bushings for corvette control arms.

Yes, to get the old ones out and to install the new ones. You local tire and alignment place should be able to do it, or refer you to someone who can.

Can't hurt. It would suck to not do it, then have a squeaky azz suspension later. I use this stuff on every poly bushing I install:
