Hey See Ten
What % tint do you have on your windshield? and I hate to ask you this, cause I know how much you hate to take pics... but can you take a pic of the inside looking out, if possible... Thanks

Re: Hey See Ten
The tint is 35% from top to bottom. It's not really noticeable to most people. The police can't check it because they don't have a meter for it. I also happen to have a pic on file from when I had the truck on the beach.

Re: Hey See Ten
Here's another pic I found on file that was taken on a very overcast (had been raining) day.
You need to find out what's legal tint where you live. Around here trucks can be as dark as you want on the back glass so I'm running 2.5%. My doors are also the legal 35%. The windshield is done 35% from top to bottom. I've never been stopped in the truck for tint and if I did once they check it I would be on my way. Now our Z has 35% on the sides and one shade lighter on the windshield from top to bottom. The back glass is also one shade darker. My wife got stopped once when we first got it (due to our temporary plate not being visible, it was strapped to the strut brace in the hatch). The trooper said the tint looked to dark and dropped the meter on the glass. She said he looked confused when it passed and told her that the back glass obviously made the sides look darker. She was sent on her way. Here's some pics of how the tint looks on that one. Windows up. Windows down. |

Re: Hey See Ten
Yes they were taken at Deal's gap. I'm glad you found your glasses bro.....sounds like they're pretty important to ya!! Here's a couple of the truck so you can see how big of a difference the dark back glass makes. The windows are down in all of these pics.
Windows up in this pic. |

Re: Hey See Ten
Did you have trouble getting the tint shop to tint the windshield? It seems all of the shops around here are chicken anymore, they won't put a shade darker on the sides like they used to, i have to drive 3 hours to a hole in the wall shop in Oklahoma to get what i want now

Re: Hey See Ten
On the phone they wont discuss this kind of work. In person with the understanding that you're paying cash and not getting a receipt, they'll do about whatever you want.

Re: Hey See Ten
Is it legal in GA to tint the front window? I don't believe it is in MO.

Re: Hey See Ten
Is it legal?
Uh....no. But I didn't ask their permission, and I sure do like it! |

Re: Hey See Ten
The night time visibility is much better than you would think it would be. We've got five vehicles in the yard and four of them have tinted windshields. The only reason the fifth one isn't tinted is due to that car needing torn down for a repaint and overhaul. Whenever that project starts it will be tinted when it goes back together. Here's a couple more shots through the windshield of the Z.
