I have a oppertunity to trade a welder I have for a 73 swb fleetside project. It looks pretty much all there except for the dash and gauges. The body looks pretty decent as well. I`ve only seen pics at this point so I`ll need to see it in person before making a trade. I told the guy what I paid for the welder and it`s brand new and he is actually the one who came to me with the trade. I paid $1400 for the welder and cart. Does this sound like a fair price for a 73 short fleet project?

Obviously going to depend on the condition it's in. For that much money (around here anyway) I'd expect to get either a good drivetrain and rough body, or a rough drivetrain and good body.

I agree with that. It does have a 350/350 combo but I didn`t even ask if it runs.Ii don`t really care though as it`s going to be a long term project and the drivetrain is the least of my worries. I figured on building a different motor for it regardless. The body looks decent in the pics except for a cheezy molded on cowl induction hood. I`ll get a steel one for it if I do the trade.

just ask yourself if youd give the $1400 for it. sounds a lil high but we are in different areas too.

sounds like youre getting the raw end of the deal unless you are getting a very pristine truck which runs like a champ

I wasn`t expecting to get full price of what I paid but if the body is as straight as it looks then it might be worth it. It does have the motor/tranny, already been lowered but I don`t know how much and how it was done. I would say it is worth $750-$950,maybe $1000. He does have the title which is a plus.

I don`t know about your area but around here $1400 doesn`t get you a pristine truck. you cna get a running one but it may not be running that great or may have a crappy body. Usually around here the decent drivers go for $1700 and up.

One of the reasons I`m interested in the truck is the 73 up body style has so many parts available for it.
