Hello,,new member sayin' "Hey!"
Hello,,I'm Danielwetpaint. I've been building all kinds of stuff since 1978.My very first project was a '63 Chevy II Nova 4 dr 327 powerglide. Then in 1980 my next project was a '68 lwb Chevy that I found for $500.oo,,I shaved everything, lowered, painted two tone pearl white with royal blue metallic,(the blue on the bottom following the body contour lines). I found a wrecked '68 Impala that had a new blue vinyl pleated seat,so I pirated that along with some spoked hubcaps.I dyed the pad on the dash the same color with aerosol spray. I cut the center horizontal bar out of the grill and lined the whole opening with factory trim. The inside actual grill was 7/16ths tubular polished conduit run horizontally. It was a neat old truck that I enjoyed for years. I've had several since then.I worked on and off in different occupations since HS,(always falling back into paint n' body and building). I have accumulated 3 years of College. In the later 80's I married and found 10 acres that I cleared about half. I then moved a new mobile home on it and started building a shop.I poured 525 bags of cement in the floor with an electric mixer (back then no trucks would come out). The rest of the building, I welded from 2" round tube called drilling stem(oil well pipe). The first shop is/was only 24' x 24'. I'm poor lol, I mean you gotta crawl before you can walk.I do as much as I can. As time worked out,I later added on a 30 x 40 that is 1/3 the way done.Thats where I left off, even to today. 2 1/2 years ago I started building my own house and I am currently just about finished.I should be completely done this summer.I have thousands of digital pictures of the process. In the mean time to keep sane,,lol,,, I've been building a 1948 Stylemaster 2 dr. I found a decent body on ebay and traded a (junky) '95 V8 S-10 I had for it. Since then,I've put in an '85 Monte front end. A '70 Nova rear end. New wiring, late model column,350/350,,etc. I am building it into rat rod type of car but much more finished. The biggest problem, I hated the length of the front fenders and have shortened one side (so far) 11 inches.I'll do the other side later.Thats where I left off. As soon as it warms up a bit I'll get back on it. I'm "danielwetpaint" on Youtube and theres a couple of my vids there.I'm an old school car guy that does the best he can. OK,,thats my intro,,Great site and Thanks.
