Old Turquiose - The '56 is ready to roll

To you guys that are into custom trucks, I imagine this old guy will seem like a strange bird to you. I almost hesitate to post the pics, but I love this old truck and thought I'd share. Built for practicality, not for show, the truck is still 90% or more original as it was the day it left the factory, including the original paint. The owner (who lives in Texas, so don't let the snow below worry you) and I decided it should stay this way. Not to be confused with a rat look car that's slammed and has performance modifications, this truck is rather a survivor that still has a ton of life left in it. The owner just needs it to tool around on his property and run to Home Depot now and again, and we agreed that its originality should be preserved for sentimental reasons. He's the truck's second owner, and knew the original owner well, who garage-kept the truck since day one. Anyway, that didn't stop us from doing a few odds and ends. I put all new brakes on it including a power brake booster, I added seatbelts and turn signals, I installed a new oak bed, and I added a Vintage Air a/c system, to name a few. I still have a tweak or two to do, mainly a steering issue, but it's about ready to head back South. I think the owner's going to have a blast in it! I realize that the car show crowd might make a loose face at it for a few reasons, but that's okay. I aimed to please my customer, not the rest of the world.

The new oak bed. Pretty.

Notice the a/c vents. The evaporator fits up under the dash. It's a Vintage Air system, and I would recommend them to anyone thinking of getting a kit.

I reupholstered the seats and added seatbelts.

The old 235 6 cylinder "stovebolt" engine, now with a/c and heater hoses and new alternator. The a/c compressor is located under the alternator.
