new from New Hampshire
I know this forum is about pickup trucks but maybe you guys can give me a lead to the right parts and pieces.
My son was just given a 1969 GMC 5500 rack body truck that was sold where I worked for the GMC/Pontiac dealer. It was converted to a 4X4 and the company that purchased it made a home made plow set up that rivals anything I have ever seen, they used to plow the airport where the company plane was stored. Plane since sold off and they used it a bit for snow removal around the shop mostly just to push back the banks and some times if they had a large piece of machinery to move to the other plant they would use this. Has some rust but a lot of new parts and real decent tires. They say that the big block V/6 engine is making a noise but they still drove it and finally had no more need and gave it away and my some is over joyed, he figures it is something he and I can do. They also say that the trans is missing second gear, don't know where it went but in the spring when it warm up we will take it out for a short teat drive and see what gives when all the snow is gone and take some pictures and post them. Where can I get engine parts if needed and body part?, It does need a left front fender.

Welcome from down the road. Anywhere near Swanzey? Try 'the 6066 GMC Guy" site. Lots of good V6 info there. If the V6 is just clickity clackin, thats normal. If its knock knock knockin, then you might have somethin goin on there.

Re: new from New Hampshire
thanks guys and I live just a short way from Swanzey, purchased my Harley from the Monadnock Harley shop in Swanzey.
I haven't heard it run as it is to damn cold to do that when it isn't necessary and it is a project for summer when I am not out riding my bike. I'll keep ya posted on what we find and probably post some pictures as well. the engine is the big block V/6 and used to purr like a kitten but we'll see.
