Hybrid A/C
Hey Guys,
My Blazer was originally A/C, but it was disabled and partially removed by the PO. I'm tempted to put it back stock, but when you start adding up the cost of parts, it gets pretty pricey... Additionally, I've been considering a serpentine conversion and they generally come with a newer version a/c compressor and it would make sense to use it. Has anyone built a hybrid system using a serpentine style compressor and the stock/underdash components. I'll need a new evaporator and my condensor housing is broken pretty bad. And what's the POA upgrade deal??? I'm probably too a/c challenged to attempt this, but if you know of any how-tos, I'd like to learn. I searched, but didn't really find the answers... Thanks, Tony.

Why not buy the Vintage Air set up for our trucks & the serpentine setup & you'll have really nice A/C
I thing the Vintage Air setup is around $900 |

You can buy the fitting for the rear of the compressor and a good hose / fitting shop can custom build / crimp up the needed hoses . Most places use R 134-A compatable hose exclusivly and a poa conversion to orfice tube kit would take care of the restrictor . It can be done . Make sure the evaporator temp switch work or just add an adjustable suction pressure control To prevent freeze up and slug back of liquid . On my 49' I have a factory serpintine setup and i am looking to mount a sandin in the factory mount or convert the factory style compressor to the vintage air kit .
