fuel cell
anyone know were i can find the cheapest decent size fuel cell or any ideas on what i should do basically im getting a snap on tanneu cover and was gonna put the fuel cell in the bed next to the cab to get it out of the truck any other ideas on a tight budget

Get a 73-87 Blazer tank. That's about as cheap as you can get. Here is a thread with more info:

 For the "tank filler" delete, that is my truck in the pictures  I got the idea from another truck a member here locally showed me, and adapted it to make something that looks semi-stock. With some fab work I could've made it more stock (with neck and all) but I was lazy

$6-$10 and you can relocate with no body work required.
The hardest part is keeping the rubber grommet intact when you remove your old tank, and also drilling the cap and the piece of metal pictured. You don't necessarily NEED to do it my way, it's just an example. You could use diff't materials and achieve the same results. I've seen this done a couple of diff't ways at this point.

Oh, I should mention that mine was from a Suburban and not Blazer. It came out of a '73. I'm not sure that makes a difference.

This thread gave me the push i needed to go ahead and look for a cell. But i've got a question.
Local junk yard says the Blazer tank is the same as the suburban tank, can i count on that info?? *still a noob* They are asking 75 for the tank and sending unit, WAY more tempting then the 200+ for a kit. Doesn't the suburban have a wider frame?? LMC shows tow different tank part number, but that might just be the filler neck difference. |
