Re: just wondering
I haven`t seen any 8.1 swaps in 67-72 trucks, yet.Personally I can`t imagine wanting to buy a new truck with all that motor.

Re: just wondering
I got a 2001 model with a 6 speed manual transmission, bought it new in September of 01, great on a trailer with plenty of power, in my opinion.
Not as good as a Duramax, I would guess never drove one though, but was about $4500 cheaper when I got mine and I don't drive enough miles to justify the extra expense. I get around 10-12 mpg empty, 8-10 pulling a trailer depending on whats on it. Pm if you have any specific questions or want more info. I like mine for what I use it for. I live in hilly country and pull trailers with a skid steer, hay, cattle, cars, trucks, and lumber/building materials over the time I've had it. If I remember correctly the 8.1 option was around $750 at the time and was what I wanted...no replacement for displacement when towing IMO Last edited by 72gord; 02-22-2008 at 08:42 PM. |

Re: just wondering
got my truck back from the dealer. and the frinkinn mechanic cant even put it back together right. iam picky. i opened the hood to see the power steering filler cap not straight and see that he has bent the two little tabs back that go around the mounting bracket. them on the way home i get a frinkin flat tire. the valve stem just blows out of the rim. so i got 5 new bfg mud terrains and black soft 8 wheels. what a frinkin ****ty month. feb sucked!!
