I want to put a 2" lift in my truck just to raise it up alittle...it feels low compared to the old one.

I was planning on putting 2" blocks in the back, but I dont know how to lift the front. Maybe cranking the torsion bars? Any help would be appreciated...because I have no clue how to lift the front. Thanks.

Rancho makes a torsion bar lift that`s not too expensive for 1500s.They may just be 2500HD/3500 parts,because they don`t make anything but the assembly-drop lifts for 8-luggers.On my 3500 I tweeked the t-bars for about another 2-3".I can run 285/75x16s.I run 255/85x16s now.

Tim, exactly how did you tweak the torsion bars? I have no clue when it comes to IFS stuff, I just want my truck to ride alittle higher.

At the back end of the torsion bars there`s a huge hex head.You turn then=m upYou can go a ouple few inches and still have adequate travel(camber).If you don`t have a wrench,asee if a shop will do it.It won`t cost much at all and can be done in minutes.

Oh ok, thats what I thought. I've heard of cranking torsion bars up before. So you think this will get me a couple more inches without hurting anything?

I adjusted my torsion bars to gain a bit of lift on my 95 GMC Yukon. Approximately 2 years later I had to replace the upper ball joints and had some wear on a couple steering components (can't remember exactly what was worn at this point). Can't swear this was caused from the torsion bars being adjusted but that is my suspicion.

probably idler and pitman yukon, those suckers wear out quick!!

i think, if i remember right, the nut to adjust is an 18mm head

My dad has a '05 duramax and cranked up the torsionbars then had it aligned again to adjust for the camber/caster, we've got a buddy with an alignment shop so it wasn't any big deal... it looks a lot better than stock anyways.

My GMC has 250,000mi. on it and I did this back in`92.The only thing I`ve ever had done to the front end is the idler arm every 80,000 or so.This is typical of all IFS GMs.My alignment never has been touched,either.The IFS is designed to maintain proper camber within it`s travel range.So,no probs there.
