Hey everyone hows it going i recently installed a brand new gas tank in my blazer and my only problem after the install is my gas gauge decided to be dumb. I made a little drawing to help explain whats wrong

i was hoping someone could help me with my problem. The little full arrow is were the tank is full could someone help me why the gauge wouldn't travel all the way to full with a full tank i mean the gauge still works just not completly

I put a new blazer gas tank in a 72 pickup (getting rid of the one behind the seat) and I had a similar problem. Mine went further over towards full, just past the 3/4 mark and then hit "E" and kept going on down about as far as yours in the pic. I thought it might be the ceramic resistor on the back of the stock guage not liking the new sending unit that came with the tank. So I removed it, no change. checked grounds, etc. I sold the truck before I figured it out so I would be very curious to know what this problem because I have another new Blazer tank with sender to install on my 69 Blazer. I've often wondered if I would see the same problem again.

yeah im intrested in whats wrong too cuz ive tried it with a ground without a ground and cant figure out what would cause this

It’s definitely a resistance problem. Tell us a little more about the situation. Was the gauge working at all before you changed the tank? You mentioned new tank, is it the same sending unit or did you change that as well. There isn’t a lot to these circuits but they can have little gremlins hiding that are hard to find. Beings that it works off of resistance things like bad connections can cause weird results on the gauge.

alright the gauge worked from full to empty befor i changed the tank and it is a new sending unit i checked the tan wire with a Dvom and it had like 6 ohms of resistance at the wire....
