In 1964:

The Chevrolet engineers gave a slope to the front pillars on cabs for easier entrance and exit, changing from the "dog-leg" style, which dated back to the mid-fifties.

In order to provide more driving comfort, reduced maintenance and longer vehicle life, the Chevrolet engineers added the following features: self-adjusting brakes, reduced transmission hump, longer front suspension lube intervals and longer-life exhaust systems.

The standard engine in the C10 was the 140-horse-power 230 inline six cylinder; the extra-cost 170-horse-power 292 six cylinder and 175-horse-power 283 V-8 engines were optional.

The three-speed manual transmission was standard, a four-speed manual and a two-speed Powerglide automatic were options.

Chevrolet's top-of-the-line pickup was the model C1534 C10 1/2 ton Fleetside, in 6-1/2' or 8' fleetside cargo boxes with two cab finish levels: Standard or Custom cab.

That I did know. One of my parts trucks had a dash clock in it.

The clock was mounted on top of the dash, above the ash tray, not in the dash.

Yes, this book is still available. I have seen it at Classic Parts, formerly Chevy Duty, as well as, on eBay. Google it and you might find it at other sources. This information was a very small excerpt. There is a ton of information on all years, makes and models of Chevrolet trucks.

Where was the dash clock located?

My pick-up had a blank plate in the heater control location with a hole too big for the heater control switch/cable combo. I was curious if a clock had been in this location.

Everyone likes to clump years together, like 64 thru 66 as being the same, but in every year, there were many subtle differences besides the emblem changes.

The only difference between the '64 and the '65 was the body emblem design and location. The '64 body emblem was located on the upper portion of the front fender below the style line. The '65 body emblem was located on the cowl extension.

The differences between the '64/'65 and the '66 was the style and location of the body emblem. The body emblems was located on the upper portion of the front fender of the front fender below the style line. The other standard features, as mandated by Federal law, were seat belts, side mirror, 2-speed windshield wiper motor and reverse lamps.

Without these subtle differences, the '64, '65 and '66 Chevy trucks are indistinguishable and identical in every aspect.

Here is an illustration of the electric clock available as a dealer option. It was typically mounted on the top of the dash. I have bid on a few, however, I have never owned one or seen one in person.

Steering wheels and columns went from white in 64 to medium fawn in 65 and 66. Arm rests were changed from a triangular 2 piece design in 64 to rectangular one piece design in 65 and 66. A cable-actuated parking brake system in 65 replaced the parking brake lever on floor on 1964 4 speed C 20 trucks.In mid year 65, the Custom Camper option and the 327 option became available on the C 20. In 1966, the dashboards only were painted DARK fawn and the instrument panel was now silver instead of black.The steering wheel, horn knob and vinyl seat trim design was changed in 1966. Also, the 250 6cyl. replaced the 230 6 cyl. and 3 speed automatic was new in 1966.There were also many exterior colors which were unique to each year, such as gray green metalic for 64, maroon for 65 and saddle and silver in 66.Anyone doing a correct restoration on these years should be aware of these subtle changes between 1964 and 1966.

Hello Tony , I was looking up old theads and found this "Did you know" thead. It has some cool infomation. So I thought I would bring it back up to the top because of the dash clock infomation. I have never seen a dash clock in person or photos of one that is installed. I have one that is installed in the dash, that was made just for 64,65,66 dashes. The pictures dont show it, but the numbers and lines are a light green matching the rest of the dash. Bought it from ebay about 5years ago and have not seen another one since. Any one else have one? I think the name of the company that made this was The Clock Doc. I had to modify the dash very little to install this clock.I have not installed dash assembly into my truck yet. What do you guys think? I would like to see some photos of a dealer installed clocks if anybody has one.

Series 14 is a 115" wheel base (swb) and Series 15 is a 127" wheel base (lwb). The attached VIN decoder is a great reference for '60-'66 Chevy trucks and I hope it is helpful.

I bought a similar dash gauge assembly a few years ago on eBay. Although the lines and lettering match the existing dash lense graphics, the actual factory gauges have white lettering. In any case, the modified dash I had was retrofited with a 70's model dash-mounted clock from a Chevrolet car...not sure what year, or model, but it was electric.

The left window was reserved for air/vacuum gauge, mostly in the Series 50-80 trucks, however an air/vacuum gauge was available as an option...never a clock, electric or manual. Your cluster looks very nice and makes the dash appear balanced with the factory tach in the right window.

Thanks for sharing and post some pictures of that thing installed in a 4-5-6 Chevy truck.
