17x7; 17x8 stance...will it look right?
Hey all, I picked up two American Racing Hopster 17x7 wheels for dirt cheap. I'm wondering what I can do to make this look good on the truck. I'm lowering the truck on a 4/6" drop and I was thinking of 225/50/17 on the fronts and 255/50/17 on the rear. Anyone running a similar setup? Also, why do the aftermarket caps not fit over the hubs on the front? Thanks!

Yeah, 275s look good on the back. Is there any wider tire than a 225 that will fit on a 7" and look decent on the front wheels?

I'm runnin' 255/60's on 7 inchers on the front and 285/60's on 8 inchers on the rear.
IMHO the tire sizes you have listed will be too small. Your fenderwells will have LOTS of space around those litlle donuts.

72LoBurb, do the 255s have too much overlap on the rim? The guy at the tire shop says that anything over 225 will not look right. Do you have any pics of your burb?

Re: 17x7; 17x8 stance...will it look right?
I have 17x8 and 17x9.5 on my blazer. I'm running 255/50-17's and 275/50-17's from Nitto Tire. I'm afraid the 8's on the rear of your truck might look too "sucked" in. What are the backspacing of your wheels? Run a 50 or 60 series tire. Like the others said,... you need some side wall to fill up the wheelwells. Here's a pic of mine.

Re: 17x7; 17x8 stance...will it look right?
I got 255/50r-17 on all four corners. 17x8 Ansen sprints with 4 1/2 BS. I don't think it looks like an "IMPORT" or a "DONK". Wish they would've been 17x10 on the rear.

You can't see the the overlap in the pics very well, but they fit just fine IMHO. The way I see it, the tire will take the damage instead of the rim, if you inadvertently scuff a curb. My wheels are the same as sierragrande 71's(truck looks good,BTW), except I'm running 7's on the front. I agree with him, on wishing the rears being wider; unfortunately 17x8 is the widest these wheels were available, and only one backspace is available, as well.

Re: 17x7; 17x8 stance...will it look right?
I went with 17x8 wheels on the front and 17x9.5 out back. I really wanted to run the Ansen slots but I wanted more meat under the back. The front tires are 255/50 and the rears are 275/50.

Re: 17x7; 17x8 stance...will it look right?
Man, all your trucks have very nice stances. It seems that a popular combo is 255 up front and 275+ in the back. See ten, is that a 4-6 drop on your truck? I'm going for a similar stance with my long bed.
With my 7" narrow rims, I'm going with 235 to keep from the "ballon" tire look. So, I'll post pics this week when I get them mounted.

Irishpilot, PM me your e-mail address, and I'll e-mail you a couple of close pics of the wheel/tires, that I went and took just for you.
Don't you feel special I'd post'em, but I'm compu-stupid....I need to get my kids to show me how to use this thing!

My drop is a 3.5"/6". It all came from Early Classic.
