A lot depends on your abilities and what you want your project to be.

If it is a driver, a beater, or a work truck -- by all means, do what you want.

I would bet that 75% of the true show quality rigs on this site have had at least a few of the tasks farmed out, whether its spraying the topcoat, all the paint and body, boxing the framerails - whatever.

Do what you can, but sometimes its more productive and yields better results to pay the man.

(On my frame off project for instance, i will be farming out the sand blasting, powdercoat, body and paint, glasswork and probably final assembly (body part alignment)) these are the tasks where it is more cost effective for me to pay someone else, even if it totals a chunk.
