15 inch rims 4-6 drop same size tires on all 4?

Anybody running this set up? Im only interested in 15 inch rims same size all the way around and same size tire all the way around with a 4/6 drop.

Im trying to decide on tires. You know the drill...not to big not to small. Im leaning towards 7 inch rim width.

If you have a pic with this set up could you post it please. I know its not the popular way to go but I'm trying to be practical, building something I can take on road trips.

CG - my steel wheels are 15x7, and although I'm not running the same size all around, the fronts are 255/60/15 and I really like 'em. I think they'd look good on all corners.

CG,You need to be aware that with disc brakes the stock 6 lugs will not clear the calipers. If you're swapping to 5 lug it shouldn't be an issue. All of this is assuming you are asking for the panel.

Not exactly what you asked for.....but anyway. it's a 3.5" / 6" drop with 15x8 rally wheels and 275/60 tires on all four corners.

What are you going to run for rims? steelies or aluminum? would you be opposed to 16's? I think 16's would still give a good ride and give more tire options and look a little better

You`re after the same thing I am.I like big`n`littles, like 275s-295s and 10s on the rear. But,the truck I want to build I want practicle for traveling.Don`t want to carry two spares and need to rotate properly.Big`n`littles are cool for limited driving,IMO.
And,I had written down what See Ten had on his rallyes before changing them out.I think we`re on the same page,CG.

Ive got all five lug stuff now, thanks for pointing that out though.

I'm torn between which rims right now, but no matter what they are going to be 15's. They will be a little less expensive and I will have the sidewall I'm looking for.

Those rims and tires look like the perfect fit see ten. I forgot all about you having that combo.

When my panel is done I want it to be something I like and something I can drive all over and have a spare that fits all corners. I also want it to be something sort of timeless, semi late 60ish, so if I decide to let it go potential buyers will like the look and not be thinking, yeah its cool but I'm going to have to change this or that. Well except for Brad and my honey, they both hate red interiors.

Re: 15 inch rims 4-6 drop same size tires on all 4?

My set up is 4/6 with 265-50-15s at each corner. Rims are the 15x8, and with the tires, the overall diameter is around 25.4inches. Also, height of front wheel opening, ground to top center of opening is 26 inches, 27 inches for the rear.

In this picture, the truck was still settling, so it is about 3/4 to 1 inch lower looking now...

So far Im liking see tens size, but maybe I will look into 65 series. Fabris truck is beautiful, but I think a 50 series tire on my gigantic panel will look a little off.

well just got my wheels on and they are 15x8s with 275x60s on them and i think for a panel like ours it just looks to small on the rear. i did 2 1/2 drop spins on front and 5 " drop on the rear so i think for me i will go with 10s on the rear with 295x 60s and leave the front like it is.

Re: 15 inch rims 4-6 drop same size tires on all 4?

Bringing this back TTT. What are your opinions on tire size? Seven or eight inch rims and I want the tires to tuck. 15 inch only. A panel is a huge chunk of truck and I don't want the tires to look undersized. I was really leaning toward the 275/60 until bills68panel spoke up. I really wish I was better versed on tire sizes so I could visualize this better.

I need to check out the tire/wheel size thread again...Maybe photoshopping a panel rear section on a long box truck that I like will help =)

Mark, I've got 235/70/R15 all the way around on my '67 right now. It's the same exact height as a 275/60/R15 fwiw. Take a look in the gallery for current pics of my truck.

Look at See Ten`s truck with 275/60s all around. That`s about as big of an all-matched set you can go.You can run 295s on the back for a beefier look but they`d be big for up front.Yes,bigger tires look better in the back.I love fat rear tires. But,it`s a trade-off when you want all-matching.

Re: 15 inch rims 4-6 drop same size tires on all 4?

I'll agree about the 275/60's lookin small.

275/60s for the rear, and 2 245/60s up front on 15X8 5 lug rallys.
As for the spare... if you have a spare that you tell yourself is a temp spare... then size doesn't matter nearly as much. If all 4 tires are 28 inches tall X 8 inches wide, then grab a tall by skinny tire tobe the spare. The total diameter is what matters, and if it's gonna bu sused as a temp spare, then the total diameter is't all THAT important.
Just look in the truck of dang near every car sold today

CG...here is a shot of mine..15 inch rims..275/60 on the rear{8inch rim} and 255/60 on the front 7 {inch rim}. The front is an ECE 4inch/rear ECE 5 1/2inch drops. The rear could easily be 6inches without problem. Works well..hope this helps...see ten and John...outstanding looking trucks!

Why not go with a 235/75/15? That's close to the original size tires and I don't think it would look too small. You might also consider a 255/70/15. It's a 29" tall tire and still ballons out and looks good. It definetly wouldn't look small on the panel.

So how are you guys getting the 4/6 drop. I know for the rear im going to use the taurus rear coil springs to obtain my 6. I am also going to run 275w/60/15 all the way around.

Thanks for the input so far guys. Im talking with one of the board vendors about dropping this even lower than I was originally thinking and he wants to know what height the tire will be so I need to make the decision. LonghornMan you make a valid point...Ill consider it.

Mark fwiw, I use an AstroVan spacesaver spare in my '68 truck. They fit great over the db hubs and are pretty tall as well.
