Most likely you need to adjust your brakes. A pull upon braking is usually caused by the drums not adjusted equally. If it was an alignment issue it would show up anytime you are driving.

Also real common to have the front brake hose's collapse internally and be completely plugged. Check the left front brake hose.
Good luck. Jeff

I'd pull the drums and look for a cylinder leak or other contamination on the shoes.Look for a glazed drum, heat damage, flakey crumbling shoes etc. But get it fixed. It may just seem like an annoyance now but in an emergency stop you will want a straight stop without spinning!

Re: I mashed the brake to check my brakes out...
A leaking grease seal can make a brake grab, but if it ain't grabbing, just pulling, it is probably adjustment time. If a drum has been turned too much, it will pull to that side. If the drums are not turned equally, like both fronts the same and both rears the same, it may pull. Basically, the larger diameter drum will find that it will pull because of the different diameters.

Here's a great site for brake problems and the fixes. I thought it was worth posting.

Re: I mashed the brake to check my brakes out...
Sticky or stuck wheel cylinder, maybe on just one side of the cylinder. That what was wrong when we had the same problem. And the cylinders and whole brake job was only 2 years old.

Re: I mashed the brake to check my brakes out...
i mashed my brakes once to check the brakes out, then i got to pull over immediatly , remove the wheel, removed center section of drum, then the outer part of the drum. lucky i wasnt trying to avoid hitting anything. always a good idea to carefully inspect 40 year old parts that your life depends on.
