Suburban Barn Doors

I just picked up a 1980 K-20 Suburban. It has a tailgate with roll-down window and I was wondering if that could be taken out and barn doors put in it's place. Anyone done that and what is involved?

Apparently they stopped this in the early '80's. My 78 has the holes blocked off with plastic buttons. Someone just emailed me about this and his didn't have those.

Thanks, Jon, that was a good post on the other board. Chris, did your 78 have the backer plates under the plugs? I got a barn door off a 79 for a friend a couple of years ago. I'm going to pick up the 80 next Friday. Will keep my fingers crossed that it has the holes since the body style change came in 1981.
