Wanna turbo charge your 250??

Just thought id share a pic with all yall.My brother has put an inline 250 6 cylinder in a 1991 Camaro and turbocharged it.Here is a pic of it with a used carb for mock up,it has a new holley hp 650 on it now.I'll get more pics asap. The engine is bone stock out of a 1970 chevy truck. It has a new powerglide and will be on the track in about 2 weeks.May not be the fastest but will be fun.It is running about 15 pounds of boost so far.We have another 250 on the stand that will be quite a bit stronger when finished. Some ask why, we say why not!!!!!

Update;;;Site wont let me post a pic that big.Dang It

Re: Wanna turbo charge your 250??

You can resize the pictures in Paint(I think all Windows computers have it). Just open the picture and click "Image" up at the top, then click "Stretch/Skew" and shrink it by like 50% horizontal and vertical.

Re: Wanna turbo charge your 250??

Will this work on a 292 as well or will there need to be different steps involved?

Re: Wanna turbo charge your 250??

Ill get my brother to get up a list.the carb is new,the to-4 turbo is off ebay.the carb plate was hand made as well as the tube going into the intake from the turbo.
We have Leo Santucci's book on building 6 cylinder chevys, its a mind blower as to what all can be done. You can get it on ebay or at amazon.com

Re: Wanna turbo charge your 250??

I have three just for this type of project!! I'd like some specs if you don't mind, I have a 250 and some other type (I can't tell what it is?), but a turbo is how I want to go, I planned a 4-barrel intake with a blowthrough set up, but this one is cool too, packaging right. I just thought about this in a Camaro, in mine it'll most likely be a truck so I can stack it all on the intake. We need more picts and info!!

Re: Wanna turbo charge your 250??

im real curious about this too. did you build bracketry to support everything to the engine? or to the car? solid motor mounts? is something like this streetable at all? it would probably work real well with a holley 390, small turbo, and 6-7 lbs of boost. port out the head, and build a fat exhaust.... i cant imagine our '73 chevy 1/2 ton with a blow off valve, but it would be cool. i love my 01 jetta wolfsburg with the 1.8 turbo. the gas mileage and power are great. wonder what it would do to mileage on a 250?
