does anyone know if and how a S-10 or Camaro 5 speed would work behind the inline 6? thanks.

I have a T5 behind a 292 and it's one of the best things I've done to the truck. Do a search here and over at www.inliners.com There are mountains of information between the two sites.

Yes, both will work behind the L6. The Camaro T-5 will work better and is easier to get up and running and possibly cheaper too, however the Camaro shifter sits about 12" back from the S-10 shifter and requires bucket seats. You could swap the S-10 tailshaft over to the Camaro gear box to cure that, but again it all comes down to my statement above.
