Dave, i'd get to that very quickly, it could be just low fluid though.

I let mine go with the "sweet" sounding whistle until I was on the freeway going 15MPH and the engine buzzing around 5000RPMs.

You've got a 700r4 right?

Dave, I know were not voting here, but my vote would be alternator. I know it's newly rebuilt, but stranger things have happened.

it may be as cold as ass outside but my truck is always 20 to 25 degrees colder inside in the mornings. Except during summer then its the opposite.

just got back from getting tranny fluid, it was bout a little/lot past the add line on the stick

drove it around the block to test it, it seems be shifting smoother.

i could also spin my tire from every stop i made. it also doesnt make that scary tapping sound it used to make when i accelorated heavly from a stop, or shifting from drive to reverse or vice-versa

Now you got me scared. I have to go check my fluids now!

EDIT: Everything is fine. The Oil is as black as ever and the tranny fluid is high.

hmm tough one to call. All good guesses though. except that Ive heard all of them make that exact noise and come to think of it, 90% of the time they are "new" to begin with.

time to break out the old shadetree stethoscope? (heater hose)

Cold feet suck!! What am I, a leg warmer???

Back to the subject. When my TH400 was going out, it made that gear-driven sound when it was first started up and for a short time after that when I would accelerate hard. The consensus from everyone I talked to then was that it was the torque converter. If your tranny has any age on it, that may be the culprit. However, I would check easier stuff first!!
