Volt meter

Hi
I am trying to hook up a volt meter on my 67 chevy truck it has the external voltage regulator,I have tryed going form the battery and then i tryed going from the voltage regulator and still cannot get a reading of 14 volts the needle just jumps back and forth,So i am not getting something hooked up right i am at a lose not sure what to try next with it help please.

Re: Volt meter

Find a ignition "on" only wire and run the hot wire there. The other goes to ground.
