Planning out my project...suspension
I am in the planning stages of my project. I have a 65 c-10 that I did a long time ago that now needs updates/repairs. My plan is to have a ride height of about 5" from the ground to the bottom of the rocker at the front fender (not the pinch weld, but the flat of the rocker panel). I will be using some sort of 4 link in the rear, 30" tall rear tire and a 26-27" tall front tire. The truck will be a steet/strip with the goals of running in the upper 11's, just not so quick that I need a roll bar.
My question is what can be done on the cheep to get a good ride with stock style parts? I am looking at the dropmember, maybe even the C4 version. If I go that way, what are the best years to get the C$ suspension parts? Any comments are welcome...

Currently, you are required to run the 88-96 C4 suspension on the DropmemberC4. A DropmemberC4 that will accomodate the 84-87 components is in the works. I believe the 84-87 components are a little cheaper, so depending on your timing, I would recommend purchasing whichever you can get the best deal on.... IF you go this route! It will be difficult to achieve the 5" ride-height with factory parts and still maintain adequate ground clearance... unless you decide to modify the frame (Z).

Re: Planning out my project...suspension
Thanks for the reply. I really want to do the drop member, I am glad I asked about the components. I will be going to a large swap meet next weekend and will look at parts/prices for those.
So, with the dropmember, I should not have any issues with the ride height that I want? Is that using a coil over or a shockwave set up? Karl

Re: Planning out my project...suspension
I know what I need for now about the dropmember, anybody used the front IRS from Jim Meyer Racing? What advantages does it give?
Anyone know the weight differences between, stock, C4 Dropmentber, and the Jim Meyer IRS? Anyone now where I can get a cad drawing of the stock 64-66 chevy swb frame? I need the side view more then the top, but all the views would be great.
