air valve and air line question
I ordered 8 1/2 inch valves for my truck front/back/side/side and i was gong to just use the d.o.t. line but then i changed my mind i am goin to hard line it with stainless line i can go 1/2 inch line just didnt know how difficult it would be to bend it so my question is would it be a waist of 1/2 inch valves with 3/8
line and wanting opinions on nitrogen vrs. compressors like two viarr 480 with a 5 gallon tank or something like that i would really like yalls opinion on this first truck to bag |

Re: air valve and air line question
I would go with 3/8 valves. When I did my truck, I used 1/2 valves and 1/2 line and it was WAY too fast. It was all up or all down because it was too quick to stop anywhere in between.
I ended up having to run dump adjusters on all 4 dump valves and 2 fill adjusters on my supply lines. It was $120 extra just to make it usable.

Re: air valve and air line question
you can use the 3/8 lines with the 1/2 valves and it wont be that bad.. but i would recomend geting the valve dump adjusters, even with 3/8 valves they would dump too fast without them. they are about 10 bucks each and you can fine tune them

Re: air valve and air line question
viair dual pack would be a good comp set. i have the 400's which is good for here in arizona in the summer heat.. they have a thermo shut off switch that you wont find in some of the others, they are 150 psi rated and push good cfm

Re: air valve and air line question
I didn't think about running adjusters on the 3/8. Another advantage is the adjusters also quiet the valves. The 1/2 valve was LOUD when it dumped.

Re: air valve and air line question
What about a york engine driven compressor? They put out tons of air. I've had mine running for about a week and I love it.

Re: air valve and air line question
On my suburban I have Accu Air Control Systems with 12 valves. 8 - 1/2" valves and 4 -1/8" valves. The Accu Air sets my system with the 1/8 valves. I also have them hooked to a toggle switch to activate the smaller valves. I also changed my 1/2" lines to 1/4" out from the valve, 1/2" on the supply side. The 1/2" lines were fun for a little while, but I want to get in my ride and drive it, not adjust my system.

Re: air valve and air line question
compressors pull 30-50 amps. depending on what setup you have, but you should always let your truck run while the comps. are running.
here is a pic of the speed controller/silencer. Last edited by bedsled71; 04-30-2008 at 04:29 PM. |
