Under hood pictures... literaly

Do any of you guys have a picture of what the bottom side of the hood looks like on a 73-80 with the factory heat shield / insulation stuff on the bottom of it? I'm trying to decide what to do on my truck and I think the factory insulation might work the best for me.

thanks
chuck

Yep got rid of mine and painted it satin black, if you wan't to replace it, it costs $25.00 and about $1.00 each for the pins, there is about 18 I think?

Re: Under hood pictures... literaly

Normally, I would be all about yanking it off and throwing it out, but in this case, if it's new and clean, it would cover up all the ugly bracing on the underside of the hood.

Or am i nuts?

It look ok on a truck like mine since it's stock themed. I don't think it would look that good on yours. You might consider a piece of aluminum polished or painted. Sheetmetal would add too much weight.

I understand what you are saying with the stock theme... but man does it get old when you have to customize EVERYTHING.

The aluminum isn't a bad idea.... but i think it would still be too heavy for those little stock hinges. I'll have to check into cost and weight at the local metal supply store.

Re: Under hood pictures... literaly

I used 3/16" plexiglas under the hood of my 84 Z-28. It looked awesome since it was black but reflected like a mirror. Unfortunately the heat distorted it after a while.

Re: Under hood pictures... literaly

I saw one a while back where all the bracing holes where filled. IT looked factory like but cleaner then the bracing with holes. alot of work if you ask me tho.
