Axle bumper brackets, any idea why...

... somebody would have cut these? it's been done to both sides.

were they just angled 45 degrees down before?

In the first post I don't know but in the second post, the pictures look like it's just extra metal from forming the bracket.

looks like they welded the seams of the stampings at the factory where they came together... the first one was a Wednesday truck, the second one a Monday?

hmmm .... days of the week I'm not so sure about, but I think I like Riveted1's answer... nice laugh to get the day started with! thanks for that!

anybody have pics of what they normally look like?

mine look like the first picture too. I figured someone may have hacked on them now I am not so sure they didnt come that way.

The metal fatigues and distorts in the stamping process, a flat piece of metal turned into that bracket, nothing unusual there, just metal being stamped, check out the corners on your fenders, flat metal doesn't like to be bent and sqeezed.
