Door inner panel replacement
I have inner panel and need to install it on passenger side door. Should I cut the door so that the inner panel slides up under some existing sheetmetal and weld as overlap? There is a lip on the replacement panel.

I would weld it as you describe. You will want to seal the inner seam. I would be concerned that cutting the flange off to do a butt weld, could lead to warping.
