6" Lift Kit Questions

I am ready to purchase a 6" lift kit for my 72 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4. I have two questions. First which brand Tuff Country or BDS? Second Add a leaf with a block or all spring. I know the all spring is more expensive but I want the best performing. All help or advise you can give will be awesome. Rodney

I have lifted 3 of my trucks with Skyjacker soft ride kits all of the trucks were 3/4 ton trucks. 2 were 6in and one was a 8in kit all spring lift. If you are asking me I'd say Skyjacker softride is the best for the money. John

I have been reading these threads for years and it seems that the majority of members agree with John. Many have tried other brands and some have changed over to the Skyjacker later.
I guess the best money would be to get them the first time.
I had Rough Country on my truck when I bought it and it rode stiff but I was used to that. It was spring front and block rear. I now have all spring but the truck is not assembled so I cannot tell you how it rides. It will also take so long to reassemble the truck that I won't be able to remember the old ride for a comparison.
I probably should sell my kit and buy Skyjacker before I go to the trouble to build a nice truck and then not like the ride.
My opinion, take John's advice and learn from my lesson. I bought these years ago before I investigated like you are doing. Now I wish I would have done as you are sooner.

I run TuffCountry EZrides on two vehicles and the quality is excellent.The price was right and they ride better than any lift kit I`ve used.No matter what,go with all new springs,you won`t regret it.

I have a 72 GMC K2500 and I'm running a 6" Super Lift all spring lift kit. I have to agree with the others and would recommend going with all springs. I had other 4x4's with blocks and never had any troubles but the all spring is better for carrying weight or towing. Super Lift is a great company also. Randy

I have a Rancho 4" which is no good , I am going to go with the 6" skyjacker soft ride (All Spring), Which I hear good things about.

Go with the skyjacker the first time around... I have the 4" springs up front and blocks in the rear and love it. Though I can understand the full spring lift i have the blocks and there is no disapointment. You're right the blocks were cheaper and so was I! That extra money will kill a high schooler that has non.

i have the skyjacker 6 in lift, use the "add a spring" it will increase your towing capacity, will add a 1-2 in rake but will level out while driving to stop the typical high front look while acceerating
no block lifts they are cheapo garbage

I would prefer BDS over Tuff Country, in the past we sold MANY BDS kits through the shop and had very good success with them. The warrenty on them is a very good feature as well.

I have had several Tuff Country's with blocks and a BDS 6" all spring now and I am going back to Tuff Countrys as soon as I can. The BDS is way stiff compared to the TC. I will use my old front springs and will be getting some srings for the rear (4").

hey all i did a 200 mile three hour (ina car grr) drive today in my 83 with 37's and a skyjacker 6 inch
it rode much beter then any other 4-6in life i have been on
just so yall know..
at 70 mph i did not experience the "floating" sensation of loose or week steering stabalizers
and i was on radials so i never had the issue of bumping up and down
but yes bvery pleased with my skyjacker
