model code ?

good day.
I just picked up a '67 chev lwb 3/4 t. It came with a stepside box but of the wrong year ('60-'66?). I want to find out what the truck is supposed to have but the model code on the inside of the glove box door has been painted over is there another spot that has this info or some way of finding this out??

thanks,
eh!

Should be in the VIN # should have 2 letters and then the first # is the gvr and the next# is the bed. if it's a 4 it's a stepside

All the VIN will tell you is if it was a Chassis/Cab (no bed, or flatbed) or a Cab and Bed combo, 4 means Cab and Bed, 3 means Chassis Cab. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe if you contact GM of canada (assuming it was built in canada) you can get a copy of the original options when you request a restoration pack, only downside is it costs $50 I think.

The bed you have should be the same box, all you need is the proper fenders to bolt on.

You might check inside the seat or behind the gas tank for a build sheet. Other folkes have found them but not me.

Do a search on the site for build sheets there should be some good information in the archives.

The glove box data sheet on my trucks had plastic covering them
If the data sheet is still attached there may be some way of removing the paint and still be able to read it.

Just a thought
