quest. regarding collapsing steering column

I have read Putter's post about doing this

and have seen what one member did about re-locating the switch components (located approx 1.5- 2" back from the firewall),

but is it possible to slide that switch assembly back up and re-rivet it back in place?

PS: -- i haven't started pulling everyting apart yet because i've been using the thing as occasional transpo. --- the answer may be obvious when i drop the column, i just hadn't seen it addressed on here

Re: quest. regarding collapsing steering column

it shouldn't be rivited at all. There is an adjustment in that switch... you'll see it when you drop it down.
