Cleaning interior parts - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

What will get me the best results in cleaning up my interior parts without harming them? Such as headliner, rearview mirror cover, sunvisers, arm rests, seatbelt covers. Of couse they are/were off-white and have 8 years of shelf-sitting build-up. Thanks in advance

you could always throw them in the dishwasher for a few minutes(not the whole cycle) i know a guy that did this with his keyboard about once a month and it never messed it up.

EDIT: do this at your own discretion tho, i can't guarantee it won't mess them up cuz i've never done it.

I actually almost did that but was afraid of warping. I'm not sure how resilient plastics were back then.

you might try something like 409 to clean them up and get the grease off, followed by a weak solution of bleach and water for whitening and removal of mold. Just a weak solution tho....

im just talking a few minutes with the dishwasher, you don't want to build up too much heat.

castrol super clean stuff will take paint of an engine. good stuff. i used it to clean my parchment door panels and it did a good job

A nice warm solution of clothes washing detergent works well at getting dirt off plastics, just rinse well to make sure you don't get any white residue. (makes em soft and smell nice too!!!)

Orange Glo works pretty well, and if water won't hurt it, Orange Glo won't hurt it.

Simple Green! It works wonders used it on my interior stuff. Won't harm anything and it cleans very well!
